Several Northern Nevada fire agencies will host the first annual Silver State Women in Fire Female Firefighter Training Day on Saturday, June 29, at Carson City Fire Station 52. The event, running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, aims to highlight the role of women in the fire service and encourage more women to consider this career path.

The training day is free and open to women aged 17 and older from northern Nevada and eastern California. Participants will engage in a day structured like a fire suppression academy, including physical fitness exercises, hands-on training, and classroom presentations. They will also have the opportunity for a Q&A session with current and retired female firefighters.

Event highlights include hands-on training exercises led by seasoned firefighters from 11 Northern Nevada agencies, real-life scenario simulations, networking opportunities that foster camaraderie and support, and inspirational stories from women currently in firefighting careers.

Media representatives are invited to cover the event. Interviews with participants, trainers, and organizers will be facilitated throughout the day. For more information, please contact sswif.nv@gmail.com.
