Community members are invited to apply for the 2024 session of the Reno Constituents Institute (RCI) provided by the City of Reno. The application deadline is July 18, 2024.
From August to October, RCI students will meet with City of Reno staff to gain an understanding of the city’s structure, processes, and services through hands-on exercises, presentations, and tours.
“In RCI, participants learn from our team and see firsthand how local government works for everybody,” said Doug Thornley, Reno City Manager. “When they finish, they can share what they’ve learned with their family and neighbors, which makes government even more transparent and accessible.”
The free 10-week RCI program will be hosted on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. at various city facilities and venues. Classes begin on August 1, 2024, and run through October 10, 2024. Space is limited to 40 participants. Qualifying applicants must be 18 or older and committed to attending all sessions.
RCI offers an opportunity for participants to gain valuable insight into city operations so they can become ambassadors for change in their neighborhood and community. It also provides a learning opportunity for those who want to serve on one of the city's many advisory boards or are interested in running for office.
Members of the media are also welcome to participate in RCI. Applications for the 2024 session and more information about the program are available at Reno.gov/RCI.
