Gayle Stewart, a Caughlin Ranch resident reported missing on Valentine's Day morning, was found by a search party consisting of friends and family.
Before being reported missing, 64-year-old Gayle Stewart was last seen at her house at 8 a.m. on the morning of Feb. 14, News 4 reported.
She was found by a small search party later that day and emerged uninjured, but cold. Stewart was found down a steep, rocky wet slope at 10 p.m.
To extract Stewart, the Reno Fire Department and the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority used ropes and a basket as well as an all-terrain vehicle to get her to immediate medical care in an ambulance.
"Amazing find and rescue of a missing women," the Reno Fire Department said on Twitter. "A friend of the son found her injured and stranded on a steep slope near Alum Creek. RFD personnel helped stabilize the patient, built a rescue system and transported her back to pavement in about a 1/2 hour from contact. Strong work!"
The mayor of Reno, Hillary Schieve, acknowledged the operation on Twitter as well.
"Truly a remarkable rescue!" Schieve said. "Our entire community is grateful."
Stewart was treated for minor injuries following the extraction and was in stable condition throughout the rescue, News 4 reported.
