According to a press release, the University of Nevada, Reno, Reynolds School of Journalism student Jaedyn Young has handled the difficulties of juggling her life while attending college admirably. When Young was hired as an intern at Double Scoop, a nonprofit news organization covering Nevada's visual arts and created by Kris Vagner, a graduate of the Reynolds School's graduate program, it was a natural fit for her. Young jumped right into generating storylines, interviewing artists, writing biographies, and drafting social media material for the journal, drawing on her experience as the arts & entertainment editor at the Nevada Sagebrush.

“I wanted to go deeper into the arts and learn how to report better on the arts with an actual organization where I could learn and grow, said Young.”

Young conducted an interview with mixed-media artist Paula Saponaro while on assignment to cover a new exhibition in Virginia City after the U.S. Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade. The two talked about Saponaro's exhibition "Redux," the emotional impact of making art from personal experience and Saparono's experience as a young mother during the original Roe v. Wade decision in the early 1970s.

Additionally, in her capacity as a student journalist, Young must challenge herself to produce work that responds to the time while still living and reporting on historical events like the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Young stated, "I attended the protests to cover them for another news organization. We're going to start viewing a lot of various stuff, including visual arts and exhibitions, I reasoned."

Young manages to find time to appreciate the advantages of working in a professional newsroom as a student while juggling her courses, serving as the arts and entertainment editor for the Nevada Sagebrush and interning at Double Scoop.
