There were 63,777 students enrolled in Washoe County School District in the 2023-24 school year, 4.3% more than the previous year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Washoe County School District students was Hispanic, accounting for 43% of the student population.

Washoe County School District roughly covers 111 schools within Washoe Countyand has a main office in Reno.

Among the 111 schools in the district, North Valleys High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,302 students in the 2023-24 school year.

Enrollment in Nevada has experienced a notable decline, falling nearly 3.5% since the 2019-20 school year.

Although Nevada has seen some significant relief in chronic absenteeism since the pandemic, numbers are still high. In the 2023-24 school year, the state reported an improvement of roughly 10% in the number of chronically absent students. However, more than a quarter of students (25.9%) were chronically absent from classes. This mirrors a national trend, with estimates suggesting the number of chronically absent students in the U.S. has grown to over 16 million compared to pre-pandemic data.
