The University of Nevada, Reno’s (UNR) College of Science's yearly Generosity Challenge is currently underway.
The annual challenge relies on the holidays to receive financial donations for people’s favorite department, a news release from the university said this week. Last year, the Geography Department won with a 76% participation rate and was awarded a special plaque.
“We want to support our students and collegiality in the department,” Adam Csank, chair of the Department of Geography, said in the release.
Furthermore, the campuswide giving participation rate for all departments includes all donations and all programs. The College of Science Student Emergency Fund and the College of Science Diversity Fund are both significant projects that are seeking donations.
Students who are dealing with circumstances that could deter their studies can find aid with the Student Emergency Fund. The fund played a critical role in helping students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you are interested in donating to the Diversity Fund, they spearhead social activities such as the Bagels and Coffee event backed by the Student Association of Geological Sciences on Pride in STEM Day; along with programs that expand diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
As donations start coming in, the College of Science would like to thank everyone who is donating to help give students a well-rounded education.
