A public relations professional in the entertainment industry recently spoke about the importance of giving back at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).
Liv Moore, an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) student, gave a TEDxReno talk at the College of Business, according to a news release from the university. She shared how her college experience shaped her career.
Moore graduated from the Reynolds School of Journalism at UNR in 2017, the news release noted. She always hoped to have the opportunity to speak to students. The TEDxReno talk gave her the platform to speak about why creating professional opportunities for others is a responsibility.
"Giving back is the most important thing to me," Moore said in the news release. "As I get further away from the college arena, where help is around every corner, I realized that giving back professionally is actually less common than I would have ever expected."
Moore was presented with scholarships to fund her undergraduate studies during her education at UNR, according to the news release. That helped her focus on her career rather than having to juggle her studies and a job. The game plan worked, as Moore received a job offer before graduating from the university.
She is investing in herself as well as others by studying online for an EMBA.
"I always knew I wanted to get my master's, and I knew how important that business background would be," Moore said. "I did my undergrad at Nevada, so Nevada was not only the clear choice based on pricing, curriculum, professors, and the prestige of the program but also my only choice. I would only go to Nevada."
