The 2026 Americas Conference on Information Systems will be held at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The university’s College of Business will host the development that is known in information systems circles for networking among educators, researchers and scholars, according to a news release issued by the university.

“The conference will bring great visibility and attention to the University, the city of Reno and Northern Nevada,” Dave Croasdell, associate professor of information systems within the College of Business, said in the release. “We feel very fortunate to have been selected to lead the AMCIS.”

The event is expected to bring in more than 1,000 people from around the world and will be held from Aug. 6 to Aug. 9 at the Peppermill Spa and Resort.

According to Croasdell: “The number of visitors to Reno will be beneficial in highlighting the technological growth and capabilities in the region. We anticipate partnering with many local organizations to help draw interest to the conference and provide expertise for technologies being developed in our area.”

Croasdell added that these alliances will position the university to better conduct research and outreach missions.

According to Amir Talaei-Khoei, department chair and associate professor of information systems within the College of Business: “A conference of such a caliber is rewarding for any information systems department in the country. Our IS department is honored to have the opportunity to run the AMCIS and raise awareness on the quality of research and capabilities of our faculty.”

The university was among five finalists that were being considered over the past two years to host the conference.
