When it comes to recognition, the University of Nevada, Reno has one of the most distinguished graduate scholarship programs on Earth.
Thirteen undergraduate or graduate student members of the school received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Scholarship Program award, according to a June 7 university news release.
“This is a significant achievement for each of these students, and it speaks volumes about the high quality, graduate education at this university and the commitment and mentorship by our faculty in these programs,” said University President, Brian Sandoval, in the release. “These talented, creative students will be prepared to go on to contribute scientific innovation, understanding and concepts toward global challenges and opportunities.”
Moreover, of the 13 students, seven will be NSF Fellows on campus for the purpose of pursuing graduate degrees, according to the university.
In addition, six students who obtained their bachelor's degrees at the university were awarded NSF scholarships this year so they can transition their educational endeavors to other notable universities, the release stated.
