Parents looking to keep their kids busy this summer may want to consider enrolling them in the 4-H summer camps at Lake Tahoe.
The Nevada 4-H Youth Development Program will hold several youth camps this summer continuing an 80-year tradition, according to a news release by the University of Nevada, Reno.
“The setting provides an unparalleled opportunity for outdoor environmental education and STEM-related, hands-on learning activities,” said Kenny Haack-Damon, extension state 4-H Camp Education Program coordinator. “There’s also plenty of time for 4-H campers to participate in and learn about healthy, physical activities, such as shooting sports, kayaking, swimming and more.”
The Nevada State 4-H Camp in Stateline will hold all overnight camps at a university owned and operated 32-acre campground on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, the release stated.
The summer camps are known for giving thousands of children fun-based activities through an educational curriculum that facilitates learning, according to the release.
The university reported that “The 4-H camp is a cooperative group that focuses on the social, spiritual, mental and physical development” of participants while they establish lifelong friendships and skills.
The four camps being offered this year are the Health 4 Happiness 4-H Camp, the Northern/Western Nevada 4-H Camp, the Central Nevada 4-H Camp and the Mineral County/Native American Reservations 4-H Camp, according to the release.
