Public invited to Menorah Lighting ceremony

City of Reno recently issued the following announcement.

The public is invited to a free Grand Chanukah Menorah Lighting ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the Reno City Plaza. The event is presented in partnership with the Chabad of Northern Nevada. Families and children of all ages are welcome to attend.

Attendees can celebrate the Festival of Lights with donuts, chocolate gelt, latkes, and live music. The first 100 attendees will receive free Chanukah gifts.

Schedule of Events:

  • 4-4:15 p.m. - Live music and announcements
  • 4:15-4:30 p.m. - Dignitary remarks
  • 4:30-4:45 p.m. - Menorah Lighting 
    • Greetings from Rabbi Cunin
    • Give out candles 
    • Singing of blessings
    • Maoz Tzur
  • 4:45-5 p.m. - Traditional Horah dancing
  • 5-6 p.m. - Food and photo opportunities in front of the BELIEVE sculpture
The 23rd annual Menorah Lighting ceremony in Reno supports the Festival of Lights celebration in all 50 states and more than 100 countries globally.
