Multiple road closures were implemented earlier this week in northern Reno and Washoe County following heavy rainfall in the region, according to This Is Reno.

Lemmon Drive at Waterash Street was closed Oct. 25 to help facilitate the removal of water from obstructed culverts and ditches in an effort to help protect homes from flooding.

“Lemmon Drive is currently closed at Waterish to allow crews to remove debris from flooded ditches," Washoe County announced on Twitter. "Traffic diverted to Tupelo,”

During the cleanup, traffic was redirected onto Tupelo Street, which runs parallel to Lemmon Drive, This is Reno reported.

Additionally, Washoe County officials blocked a dirt section of Winnemucca Ranch Road approximately one mile beyond the end of the blacktop that washed away in the downpour.

The closure on Lemmon Drive remained in effect until 2 p.m. that day.
