Washoe County Education: 1,640 Black students were enrolled in districts in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,640 Black students enrolled in Washoe County districts in the 2022-23 school year, 0.2% less than the previous year, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

Data showed that Washoe County welcomed a total of 61,334 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 2.7% of the student body to be the third least represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the two districts in Washoe County, Washoe County School District recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 1,638 students.

The main offices of all districts mentioned in the story are located in cities associated with Washoe County.

Enrollment in Nevada has experienced a notable decline, falling nearly 2% over the last four years.

Meanwhile, Nevada has roughly one teacher for every 22 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
