Who doesn’t enjoy being rewarded with some free money as a result of their educational excellence? Or perhaps you’re struggling a bit financially and could use some relief from the taxman. Whatever your story is, applying for TMCC’s Foundation Scholarship is a great way to potentially ease the economic stress that often comes with pursuing a college education. Make the system benefit you! It certainly doesn’t hurt to give it a shot. You are our most valuable asset, after all, and we love watching you succeed.

The More You Learn, the More You Earn

Did you know that during the last academic year, the TMCC Foundation awarded scholarships to 540 students totaling $740,000? Students who completed the Foundation Scholarship Application, and received one, were excited to be meeting their donors and expressing their gratitude at our 11th Annual Legacy Scholarship Dinner. Really, your collegiate and professional goals will thank you. You can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that you’ve taken steps toward a scholarship just by submitting a completed application. Let’s hammer out some of the details for you, shall we?

To be eligible to apply for a TMCC Foundation Scholarship, you must be attending TMCC during the award year, degree-seeking, sustain a 2.0 GPA, and enrolled in at least six credits during each semester. No FAFSA is required! Let us hit you with a little history. During 2021-2022, scholarships were awarded to 617 students totaling nearly $1 million dollars. That’s a whole lot of opportunities to excel! We want that for you. Minimum awards are $500, with the average award being $1,200. What have you got to lose?

The generosity of our private donors makes the Foundation Scholarships possible. Gretchen Sawyer, TMCC Foundation and Grants Executive Director recently remarked about the impact of scholarship support.

“We are proud of the generous support we receive from our community that provides TMCC students with the opportunity to pursue their goals and dreams. Inflation and housing costs are having a huge impact on all of us, and we know that scholarships, which don’t have to be paid back, will provide outstanding opportunities for students,” said Sawyer.

Perfect strangers, who are invested in your future. They recognize the potential that we all have within us, and your success becomes its own reward. Anything is possible in our lifetime. Whether you’re a prospective student, current student, or picking up where you left off, TMCC encourages you to apply, taking that next step in your storied college journey. These students share their thoughts on how their scholarships have helped them:

“As a single mother of three with twin daughters also attending college, your generous gift allows me to spend quality time with my family instead of working more to cover postsecondary education costs,” said Laura, a student of our Paramedic Program.

“This scholarship helps me so much. It takes a lot of school hours to finish the program and my time spent at work gets cut because of that. This scholarship allows me to work and still have funds to pay for books and supplies and still be the best student I can,” said Alec, a student in the Radiologic Technology Program.

Making college accessible and affordable for our students is what we’re all about at TMCC. The harmony between the philanthropic support we receive and the College’s financial needs reaches a crescendo when we’re able to uplift our students and programs. There’s no sweeter sound than those of students’ footsteps in our hallways. Don’t miss this chance to reward yourself for your hard work and diligence this year.

The application window, which began on Jan. 1, will continue to accept applications through March 1, 2023. Give our tutorial video a glance if you prefer step-by-step instructions. For more information, contact the Foundation and Grants Office at 775-674-7648.
