UNR Extension associate professor on Kickoff to Kindergarten fair: ‘Many resources and materials for families’

The University of Nevada, Reno Extension will host the yearly Kickoff to Kindergarten fair.

The event will be a joint effort held in conjunction with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District and Vegas PBS, according to a news release provided by the university.

“We are so excited that we are hosting the Kickoff to Kindergarten Fair again this year,” YaeBin Kim, Extension associate professor, said in the release.

Children ages three- to five-years-old will be able to learn skills that will help as they enter kindergarten. In addition, children will receive school supplies, the chance to win prizes, oral health care screenings and the chance to see McGruff the Crime Dog, along with Splash from the PBS show "Splash and Bubbles."

The event is slated for Aug. 27 at the East Las Vegas Library located at 2851 E. Bonanza Road in Las Vegas from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The is open to the public and free with the first 200 families to enter receiving school materials and water bottles.

According to Kim: “This event highlights all different school readiness activities, and we have many resources, and materials for families that help improve school-readiness skills from home.”
