The Nevada Division of State Lands announced that roughly $350,000 from Nevada Lake Tahoe license plate sales and annual renewal fees will go towards safeguarding the beauty of Lake Tahoe.

The Nevada Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (NDCNR) took to Twitter to promote the event.

"#EveryPlateCounts! The Lake Tahoe License Plate program raised over $350,000 for sustainability projects at #LakeTahoe this year," the department said. "Help protect the lake by purchasing your plate today. Plus, you can also earn a free ski ticket."

Lake Tahoe is a pristine place with crystal water that is a recreational wonder, the department said on its website. It’s imperative to keep it in its current condition for future generations to enjoy.

Proceeds from the $350,000 will be shared by the Nevada Division of State Lands to support environmental conservation and renovation projects, NDCNR said.

"The challenges in Lake Tahoe continue to change and grow every day," NDCNR said. “As wildfire risks, climate change and ever-growing demands for outdoor recreation continue to compound in Lake Tahoe, supporting the long-term sustainable health of the Tahoe Basin is more pressing than ever.”

Currently, there are 23,000 citizens in the state that are aiding in preserving Lake Tahoe by buying and renewing their Nevada Lake Tahoe license plates, the department said.
