A recent national poll indicates that more than half of U.S. likely voters are dissatisfied with the administration of President Joe Biden.
In the 2020 election, the state of Nevada favored Biden and Kamala Harris as its presidential pair. Since then, the approval rating for the Biden administration has steadily declined.
The poll by McLaughlin & Associates in January 2022 surveyed likely general election voters. On average, 57% disapprove of Biden's job, while 41% approve. By the same token, 56% of people view Harris unfavorably, while 39% view her favorably. Opinions of Nancy Pelosi followed a similar pattern: 61% view her as unfavorable and 33% view her as favorable.
The January 2022 survey was conducted from Jan. 13-18 and polled 1,000 likely general election voters.
Over the course of the Biden's first year in office, public opinion and optimism related to their economic well-being has dwindled.
Some 62% of Americans believe the economy is getting worse, while only 30% say it is getting better, according to another recent McLaughlin & Associates poll.
At the beginning of the Biden administration, however, the general opinion of the economy was split more evenly. A year ago, 52% of Americans believed the economy was worsening, while 42% said it was improving.
When asked what issue was currently the most important to them personally, the economy was the most common answer at 31%.
Concern about the COVID-19 pandemic has also steadily declined. Only 15% of Americans said the coronavirus was the most important issue to them personally, compared to 41% in April.
When Americans were asked in a recent poll how they felt about making former President Donald Trump’s tax cuts permanent, 61% approved and 26% disapproved. In the West region that included respondents from Nevada, 55% approved, while 32% disapproved.
