Nevada Wolf Pack Women’s Tennis defeated Idaho 4-1 on the first day of the invitational hosted by Pacific in Stockton, California.

Idaho earned its only point in doubles play. The team of Marlene Foerster and Silvia-Maria Costache lost to Jessica Matthews and Naomi Schraeder, 6-3. Petra Janigova and Kariman Buqai were also defeated by Ida Johansson and Hanna Koprowska, 6-4. At the time the doubles point was clinched, Amahée Charrier and Kennedy Robinson were leading Valentina Rodas and Chenyue Xu, 6-3.

In singles matches, Nevada responded strongly. Costache tied the match by defeating Johansson (6-3, 6-0). Buqai then beat Mariam Hatem Ibrahim (6-0, 6-4). Charrier secured a win over Matthews (6-3, 6-2), while Robinson clinched the overall victory for Nevada with her win against Koprowska (6-4, 6-2).

At the moment when Nevada secured enough points to win the match, Janigova was ahead of Xu (7-5, 3-2) and Foerster was competing against Schraeder (3-6, 6-5).

Nevada is scheduled to face Pacific next as they conclude their weekend competition.
