University of Nevada-Reno issued the following announcement on August 25.

It was a great morning passing out donuts, and we were on a cart. I think we had 20 dozen donuts.

The food truck event was amazing as well. And a lot of student groups were there. And then, you know, I guess the best thing is free food. And over 350 students, were able to get the opportunity to have free food. There were food trucks from all over the community.

But just a great way to gather. I ran into a group of students and one from Las Vegas, one from California. And one from rural Nevada. Now, they’re best buddies and they’ve never met before. So I really congratulate ASUN for putting on such a nice event.

Seeing all the students in class and I had the opportunity to address some of the larger classes. And ask them, “how does it feel to be back in-person?” And they were all – to a person – they were so happy to be back.

Really proud of our faculty for being there and presenting and listening to them. And as I told the students, it’s time for them to begin their life’s journey.

I think my best advice for students is: get to know your professor, get to know your student advisors. If there’s a club or an interest that you have joined that club and pursue that. And then try to go out and make as many friends as you possibly can. I know some of my best friends in life I made right here on this campus.

Between their academic and their personal life, they’ll have the best experience possible here at the University of Nevada.
