The University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program announced on Apr. 7 a series of overnight and day camps designed to engage Nevada youth in hands-on learning and outdoor activities this summer.

The camps aim to provide opportunities for young people to explore new interests, develop skills, and build friendships away from screens. Organizers say the experiences will include outdoor adventure, science and technology projects, creative arts, and leadership development.

In southern Nevada, participants can attend three different sessions at the Nevada 4-H Camp Alamo located about 100 miles north of Las Vegas. The options include a Shooting Sports Camp for ages 12-16 from May 27-29 with a registration fee of $140; a Teen Summer Camp for Clark County students entering grades 9-12 in June with a fee of $220; and a Pre-Teen Summer Camp for those entering grades 6-8 in July costing $150. All fees cover transportation from Las Vegas to Alamo as well as lodging and meals. Registration is open until spots are filled or until the stated deadlines.

For teens statewide, the program also offers the Teen Leadership Camp at the Nevada 4-H Camp Tahoe in Stateline from June 28 to July 1. Open to ages 13-18, this camp focuses on leadership skills alongside outdoor exploration. The registration fee is $250 which includes meals, snacks, lodging, educational materials and a camp T-shirt.

Organizers note that individuals needing special accommodations should contact Nora Luna regarding Camp Alamo or Kenny Haack-Damon regarding Camp Tahoe at least ten days before their chosen event.

Registration details are available through direct contacts provided by organizers or by visiting local Extension resources.
