Nate Schierholtz born February 15, 1984, in Reno, Nevada

Nathan John “Nate” Schierholtz was born February 15, 1984, in Reno, Nevada. He grew up the oldest of four children and played high school baseball at San Ramon Valley High School in California. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2003, he progressed through the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in 2007. Schierholtz played for the Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and Washington Nationals, appearing in the 2010 and 2012 World Series with the Giants and earning two championship rings. He also competed internationally, winning a bronze medal with the U.S. national team at the 2008 Olympics, and later played in Japan for Hiroshima Toyo Carp. Known for his role in right field and occasional pinch hitting, Schierholtz retired from professional baseball after brief stints in the minors and NPB. His career reflects a steady trajectory from Reno to major league fields in the U.S. and abroad.
