Mädchen Amick was born on December 12, 1970, in Sparks, a city bordering Reno, Nevada. She is known for her role as Shelly Johnson in Twin Peaks and its related productions. After moving to Los Angeles at 16, she began acting on television with guest roles before gaining wider recognition in Twin Peaks (1990–1991). Her later work included roles in Sleepwalkers (1992), Dream Lover (1993), and series such as Central Park West, ER, and Witches of East End. More recently, she played Alice Cooper on Riverdale from 2017 to 2023. Amick also directed episodes of the show. Her connection to the Reno area reflects her early life in northern Nevada, where she developed her artistic interests before beginning her acting career.
