Registration is open for the Reno-Tahoe Senior Summer Games

Registration is open for the Reno-Tahoe Senior Summer Games

Seniors aged 50 and older are encouraged to sign up now for the 2022 Reno-Tahoe Senior Summer Games. Any Senior, from anywhere, at any level, can participate!

The Senior Games are a popular City of Reno program dedicated to promoting and implementing fitness, physical activity, and socialization. The Games will take place from August 22-September 2, 2022.

Registration is available at least two days before the start of each event via in-person drop-off* or online at Reno.gov/SeniorGames.

“Senior Games is just one way the City of Reno supports our seniors,” said Reno City Councilmember Neoma Jardon, who is also the Reno City Council liaison to the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee. “Keeping active and engaged is critical for the well being of older adults and is integral to the success of our community.”

The Games begin on Monday, August 22 with the first event, bowling, at High Sierra Lanes. The Games conclude on Friday, September 2 with the Closing Ceremony from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bundox Bocce inside the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel.

Seniors can participate in events such as archery, basketball skills, bocce ball, bowling, climbing wall, go-kart racing, golf (and mini golf), pickleball, shuffleboard, table tennis, track & field and more. Two new events will be offered this summer: axe throwing at Reno Axe and disc golf at Mayor’s Park. There will be opportunities to participate individually, with a partner or as part of a team. Seniors can participate according to gender, age and ability.

The registration fee is $30 per person, plus an additional $10 to $20 per-sport fee. The registration fee includes a Summer Games T-shirt, a custom medal, and a ticket to the catered dinner, also known as the Closing Ceremony. Additional Closing Ceremony dinner tickets for participant guests and the public are available for $20. Financial assistance, including scholarships, is available.
