Gov. Steve Sisolak is optimistic about the future of the Nevada‘s economy as the state actively recovers from a recession brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nevada added 11,900 jobs last month with employment increases in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City, as reported by CarsonNOW.

“Nevada’s economy is bouncing back and the numbers prove it,” Sisolak wrote in a Sept. 18 Twitter post.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s August 2021 economic report found the city of Reno added 900 jobs over the past month and a total employment increase of 13,600 over the past year.

Las Vegas added 7,000 jobs, a yearly increase of 78,700 jobs, and Carson City had an yearly increase of 1,300 jobs including the addition of 300 jobs since July.

More than 1.35 million individuals are currently employed in Nevada.

While the state’s August unemployment rate remained unchanged from July at 7.7%, it is the highest rate in the U.S.
