Rep. Mark Amodei, U.S. Congressman representing Nevada’s 2nd district since 2011, recently posted a series of updates on his official social media account covering regional security funding, consumer protection legislation, and higher education investments.
On January 12, 2026, Amodei announced new federal support for Washoe County: “Washoe County secured $3,000,000 for a mobile intelligence response vehicle that will enhance real-time intelligence sharing, strengthen regional collaboration, and improve disaster mitigation efforts across Northern Nevada. This specialized vehicle will serve as a mobile hub,” he wrote.
The following day, January 13, Amodei addressed consumer rights issues: “Subscription traps have become an accepted inconvenience for American consumers. Too many companies rely on deceptive business models that force people to jump through hoops just to cancel. Today, I helped reintroduce the Unsubscribe Act, which strengthens consumer protections”.
On January 14, Amodei highlighted ongoing collaboration with state leaders and educational institutions: “It was great catching up with @Pres_Sandoval to discuss investments I helped secure for @unevadareno through the FY26 appropriations process and the future of the new Reno VA hospital. Sadly, the deadline passed for me to renegotiate my undergrad GPA.”
Amodei has represented Nevada’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Dean Heller in 2011. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of both the Nevada Assembly (1997-1999) and the Nevada Senate (1999-2011). Born in Carson City in 1958 and currently residing there at age 64, Amodei is an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Reno (BA ‘80), where he later referenced his undergraduate experience in his recent tweet about university investments.
