Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve released a statement following the active shooter incident at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) in Reno on Monday morning. The mayor expressed sympathy for those affected by the event, acknowledging the ongoing nature of the investigation.

“My heart goes out to everyone who has been impacted by the tragic shooting incident at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) in Reno this morning. While it is very early in the investigation and details are scarce, I want to thank our region’s first responders and medical personnel for their courage and heroic efforts today.

Our thoughts are with the Grand Sierra staff, the guests of the resort and anyone who has been impacted by this incident. As the investigation continues, we will provide more information as it becomes available,” Schieve said.

Authorities have advised that further updates will be provided as more information emerges. The Reno Police Department has issued a press release with additional details about the incident.
