The Reno Fire Department has published its 2024 video annual report, detailing a year marked by substantial achievements and commitment to community safety. The department reported a record number of calls and significant advancements in its services, including the expansion of the region’s first single-role paramedic program.
Throughout 2024, the department responded to 51,737 service calls and deployed resources to over 100 wildland fires. Additionally, they promoted 11 captains and eight operators, hired 25 new firefighters, and brought on five single-role EMS personnel. The department also achieved an 80% conviction rate in arson investigations and completed more than 6,000 building inspections.
The report further highlights medical responses totaling 30,649 instances. Equipment upgrades included two new brush trucks designed for challenging terrains and a state-of-the-art ambulance.
The video annual report provides a visual narrative of these achievements alongside challenges faced by the department. It covers various aspects such as firefighting operations, emergency medical responses, fire prevention efforts, and training exercises.
Fire Chief Dave Cochran emphasized community involvement: “We believe that being part of the community we serve is just as important as responding to emergencies; we’re your neighbors, partners, and advocates for a safer region,” he stated in the report. “Together, we accomplished so much in 2024, and we look forward to an even brighter and safer year ahead.”
