In a recent Reno City Council meeting, several key agenda items were addressed. An interlocal agreement was approved between Washoe County and the City of Reno to develop a Parks Service Plan with PROS Consulting, Inc. The plan’s cost is $223,550, with the city being reimbursed $100,000.
The council also approved consultant agreements for sanitary sewer lift station improvements in various locations. These upgrades are part of an ongoing effort following a 2020 assessment.
A second amendment to the Joint Funding Agreement for the Truckee River Operating Agreement (TROA) was also approved. Reno’s share is set at 10% of Nevada’s state share over five years, totaling approximately $450,000.
Additionally, a resolution was adopted authorizing the City Manager to implement a reduction in force (RIF) due to slow revenue growth projections. This move aims to address an estimated $25 million gap in the city’s General Fund for Fiscal Year 2026/27.
Council postponed discussions on establishing general rules for advisory boards and commissions until August 13th and directed further public outreach efforts.
An interlocal agreement was established with Washoe County and Sparks to study regional fire and emergency services options under Senate Bill 319.
Resolutions were adopted for Riverside Drive funding agreements involving repairs and improvements along the Truckee River.
Changes were made to conditions of approval for Santerra-Quilici Development in Verdi, replacing a temporary fire station requirement with a $300,000 developer contribution toward fire facilities improvements.
Other updates included appointments of Mayor Schieve and Councilmember Anderson to represent Reno on the Regional Fire Study Board and amendments related to zoning requirements for childcare uses.
The meeting was streamed live on Reno.Gov/Meetings and Charter Spectrum Channel 194; past meetings are available on YouTube.
