Nevada Women’s Basketball will face San José State on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno. This matchup marks Nevada’s second to last home game of the season.
Nevada, with a record of 8-19 overall and 4-13 in Mountain West play, returns home after an 81-64 loss to UNLV. In that game, Nevada started strong, ending the first quarter on a 6-0 run to take the lead but struggled with free throws and three-point shooting as the game progressed. The team recorded 33 rebounds, eight steals, and 16 assists.
Imbie Jones was Nevada’s top scorer with 13 points against UNLV. Skylar Durley contributed 12 points, while Ahrray Young added 11. Amelia Raidaveta and Makayla Carter led the team in rebounds with six each.
San José State enters the contest with a record of 4-24 overall and 2-15 in conference play. The Spartans are coming off a loss to Boise State, where they were defeated 71-48. During that game, San José State shot just under 25 percent from the field and about 35 percent from three-point range. They scored only six points in the first quarter and committed 19 turnovers.
Maya Anderson led San José State in scoring with 20 points against Boise State, followed by Allie Cummins with 14 points. Kaliyah Dillard grabbed seven rebounds for the Spartans.
The last meeting between these two teams took place at the end of January in San Jose, where Nevada lost by a narrow margin of 60-57.
