The Nevada Wolf Pack baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Fresno State with a 9-4 victory on March 15 at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium in Fresno, California. This marks Nevada’s first three-game road sweep of the Bulldogs since 2021 and only its second all-time.

The win is significant as it gives Nevada an 11-6 overall record and a perfect start to Mountain West play at 3-0, which is the team’s best conference opening since 2015. The Wolf Pack has now won 11 of its last 14 games after being swept by Ole Miss on opening weekend.

Jayce Dobie played a key role in the game, breaking a tie in the fourth inning with a bases-clearing double. Dobie finished with two doubles and three runs batted in. Jackson Waller also contributed, going four-for-five with two RBIs from his second home run of the weekend. Jacob Doyle added two solo home runs, including one in the ninth inning to cap off Nevada’s scoring.

Pitcher Jordan Giacomini improved his record to 3-1 after pitching five innings and striking out six batters while allowing three runs. Relievers Luke Schat and Eric Valdez limited Fresno State to just one run over the final four innings, with Valdez earning his first save by pitching the last three frames.

Nevada took an early lead with an RBI single from Lee Matsuzaki in the first inning and Waller’s two-run homer in the second. Although Fresno State tied the game in the third inning, they managed only one more run for the rest of the contest.

Looking ahead, Nevada will return home for a five-game stand starting Tuesday against Fresno Pacific before continuing Mountain West play against Air Force on Friday.
