Nevada defeated No. 17/22 Grand Canyon by a score of 4–3 on April 4, securing a significant Mountain West Conference series win at GCU Softball Stadium in Phoenix.

The victory is notable as it came against one of the top-ranked teams in the nation, highlighting Nevada’s strong performance this season.

After four scoreless innings, Karolyn Glover put Nevada ahead with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Lexi O’Gorman added another run with her own RBI single to make it 2-0. Grand Canyon responded with a three-run home run, taking a brief lead before Bailie Clark’s two-RBI single allowed Nevada to reclaim the advantage at 4-3.

Pitching played a crucial role for Nevada. Ainsley Berlingeri started with four shutout innings and six strikeouts while allowing only two hits. Hailey McLean earned the win from the bullpen, and Talia Tretton closed out the game by striking out two batters and earning her third save of the season. The pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and limited Grand Canyon to five hits.

Looking ahead, Nevada will play a double-header against San Diego State on April 8.
