Nevada’s softball team ended its participation at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 10–2 run-rule win over UC Riverside on Saturday morning in Cathedral City, California.

UC Riverside opened the game by scoring two runs in the first inning. Nevada responded quickly as its first three batters reached base. Maddie Clark scored on a throwing error to tie the game. Talia Tretton hit a double to center field, bringing in Lexi O’Gorman and advancing Katie Wetteland to third base. Saige Alfaro then drove Wetteland home, giving Nevada a 3–2 lead after one inning.

The Nevada offense continued to produce throughout the game, finishing with 15 hits. Haylee Engelbracht hit two home runs, while Tretton added two doubles. Both Alfaro and Larsen also contributed doubles. The consistent hitting from the entire lineup allowed Nevada to build a large lead and end the game after five innings under run-rule conditions.

Pitcher Ainsley Berlengeri limited UC Riverside to four hits and struck out eight batters in a complete-game effort.

Looking ahead, Nevada will participate in the Capital City Classic with games scheduled against Sacred Heart, UC Davis, Santa Clara, and Sacramento State in Sacramento and Davis.
