Nevada Softball secured a 1-0 win over NC State before falling to nationally ranked LSU 8-0 during day two of the Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge on Saturday.
In the opening game, Nevada relied on strong defense and timely hitting. The game’s only run came in the third inning when Hannah Di Genova hit a double to center field, allowing Saige Alfaro to score. Pitcher Ainsley Belingeri earned the win by holding NC State to two hits and striking out two batters. Talia Tretton pitched the final three innings, securing the save and completing Nevada’s shutout.
Against No. 16/13 LSU, Nevada started with solid defensive plays from Rylie Haith in the outfield and Katie Wetteland at third base. Haylee Engelbrecht contributed several key stops at shortstop. Madison Clark led Nevada offensively with two hits, while Engelbrecht added a double as part of a mid-game effort to rally against LSU.
The Wolf Pack will face Lamar on Sunday for their final game of the tournament.
