The Nevada Men’s Basketball team will play against Murray State in the First Round of the National Invitational Tournament on March 18 at Lawlor Events Center, according to a March 15 announcement. Nevada earned the No. 2 seed in the Auburn region for its sixth appearance in program history at the tournament.

This development is significant as it marks Nevada’s return to the NIT for the first time since 2012, when the Wolf Pack reached the quarterfinals. The team finished this season with a record of 22-12 and tied its best home record under head coach Steve Alford by going 15-2 at Lawlor Events Center during the 2023-24 campaign.

Nevada completed Mountain West regular season play with a 12-8 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship. Head coach Steve Alford is making his seventh career appearance in the NIT, having last participated as head coach of New Mexico in 2012, where his team reached the second round.

The Wolf Pack holds an overall record of five wins and five losses in previous NIT appearances. The tournament’s first three rounds will be hosted at campus sites, while Hinkle Fieldhouse will stage the semifinals on April 2 and Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis will host the championship game on April 5.
