Nevada defeated Air Force 81-66 on Saturday afternoon in Colorado Springs, improving its season record to 13-5 overall and 5-2 in the Mountain West Conference. The win marks Nevada’s third road victory in conference play, tying them with Utah State for the most away wins in the Mountain West.
Corey Camper Jr. led Nevada with 23 points, while four other players also scored in double figures: Tayshawn Comer (14), Elijah Price (13), Chuck Bailey III (12), and Vaughn Weems (11). The team managed this performance despite missing key players due to injury.
Nevada’s bench contributed significantly, outscoring Air Force’s reserves 18-7. Chuck Bailey III was the top scorer among substitutes. On the boards, Camper Jr. collected nine rebounds and Price had eight as Nevada finished with a total of 36 rebounds compared to Air Force’s 21.
The team shot efficiently throughout the game, making nearly 53 percent of their field goals and three-point attempts, and converting over 90 percent from the free throw line. Nevada also dominated inside scoring, outpacing Air Force by a margin of 34-14 in points in the paint.
Defensively, Elijah Price led with two blocks and one steal; both Camper Jr. and Weems recorded two steals each.
Air Force started strong from beyond the arc early in the first half but Nevada responded with a seven-point run to tie before taking control of the game. By halftime, Nevada led by eleven points at 40-29. In the second half, Nevada extended its lead to as much as twenty points before closing out for their third conference road win.
