Nevada Football and law enforcement to hold charity softball tournament June 13 in Reno

Nevada Wolf Pack Football and regional law enforcement partners announced on June 3 the 3rd Annual Nevada Football vs. “The Law” All-Stars Charity Softball Game and Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park in Reno.

The event is free to attend and will support Northern Nevada Concerns of Police Survivors and the Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program. Activities will include a full day of softball games between local law enforcement agencies, culminating in a marquee matchup between Nevada Wolf Pack Football and the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement “The Law” All-Stars.

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said, “This event will showcase the very best of Northern Nevada through teamwork, service, and community. We are proud to stand alongside our hometown team, Nevada Wolf Pack Football, and our regional public safety partners for a day of friendly competition to support incredible local nonprofits, Northern Nevada COPS and the Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program. From the Battle of the Badges to our matchup with Nevada Football, this event is all about bringing people together and having fun while giving back to our community. Our team is ready to defend the title, and we look forward to seeing the stands filled with community members, families, and Wolf Pack fans.”

Nevada Football Head Coach Jeff Choate said, “We are excited for the third year of this annual event which brings our program and the first-responder community together to support Northern Nevada Concerns of Police Survivors and Northern Nevada Trauma Intervention Program. The new format combined with hosting here at Peccole Park offers a full day of action and entertainment for our community. Nevada Football looks forward to hosting and participating in this meaningful event.”

Gates open at 7:00 a.m. with tournament play continuing until 6:00 p.m.; a home run derby follows before concluding with an evening game between football players from University of Nevada’s team against an all-star squad from local law enforcement agencies starting at 6:30 p.m. Other activities include raffle prizes, silent auction items, static displays by emergency services groups, family-friendly activities throughout Don Weir Field at Peccole Park (1775 Evans Ave), and specialty concessions provided by Sodexo catering partner Empire Cat’s Home Run Derby segment.
