Nevada began its participation in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 4–2 defeat to Oregon State on Thursday in Cathedral City, California.

Oregon State scored runs in each of the first two innings, building an early lead. Nevada responded by bringing Tess Bumiller out of the bullpen in the second inning. Bumiller limited further damage and helped keep Oregon State’s offense under control. In the sixth inning, Talia Tretton pitched without allowing any runs, giving Nevada an opportunity to recover.

Nevada’s main offensive highlight came in the fifth inning when Maya Larsen hit a two-run home run to left field after Haylee Engelbrecht reached base with a single. The home run reduced Oregon State’s lead to 3-2.

On offense, Nevada collected seven hits during the game. Katie Wetteland contributed with more than one hit.

With this result, Nevada’s record moves to 6-6 for the season. The team is scheduled to continue at the Mary Nutter Classic on Friday with games against California at 12:30 p.m. and UCLA at 3:30 p.m.
