Representative Mark Amodei, who has been serving Nevada’s 2nd District in the U.S. Congress since 2011, recently shared updates through a series of tweets. Amodei replaced Dean Heller and has had a long-standing political career including previous roles in the Nevada Assembly and Senate.

On June 6, 2025, Rep. Amodei posted about his appearance on “Nevada Newsmakers” for a two-part interview with Sam Shad. He discussed future plans for his land amendment and provided key updates from Washington. On June 9, 2025, he tweeted about his role as Co-Chair of the Public Broadcasting Caucus alongside Representative Dan Goldman. They jointly urged the Trump Administration to reconsider proposed funding rescissions for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting “As Co-Chairs of the Public Broadcasting Caucus, I joined @RepDanGoldman in urging the Trump Administration to reconsider its proposed rescissions in funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.”.

Later that day, Rep. Amodei announced that he would be chairing a markup session of the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill at 6 pm ET “Tonight at 6 pm ET, I’ll be chairing the markup of the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill. Tune in:”.

Rep. Mark Amodei was born in Carson City, Nevada in 1958 and continues to reside there. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in 1980 and earned a JD from the University of the Pacific in 1983.
