For students not yet vaccinated, two pop-up events will be held at the Joe Crowley Student Union from 1 to 4 p.m. August 13 and 20. These free, walk-in clinics are offered by the Student Health Center, where students can also schedule appointments to get vaccinated any time during open hours.

“With the rise of the new Delta variant, we’re asking everyone to step up once again to help keep the Pack safe,” Medical Director of the Student Helth Center Dr. Cheryl Hug-English said.

Questions about the vaccine?

The Student Health Center has healthcare experts ready to answer your questions about the vaccine and help allay any concerns. There’s a lot of misinformation about the vaccine out there, including that young adults don’t need to get vaccinated and that the vaccine casuses severe side effects, among other myths.

“It is a very safe and effective vaccine,” infectious disease expert Dr. Trudy Larson said. “I encourage you to go get vaccinated as soon as you can.”

Vaccination is safe, proven and the most important tool we have to reduce the spread of COVID-19 –and it’s fast, convenient and free of charge.

Here are ways to get vaccinated:

  • Make a vaccine appointment at no-cost by contacting the University Student Health Center at 775-784-6598. The Student Health Center continues to offer daily COVID-19 testing by appointment as well.
  • Make a vaccine appointment with the Washoe County Health District.
  • Text your zip code to 438829 to get three locations near you with vaccines in stock.
  • Use the COVID-19 Vaccine Locator from Immunize Nevada.
  • Check out Let’s Vax the Pack online

“We have made tremendous progress,” University President Brian Sandoval said. “Let’s continue to look out for one another, encourage vaccinations and demonstrate the type of understanding that is such an integral part of the Wolf Pack Way.”
