Nevada Softball’s Katie Wetteland has been recognized as the Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Week following her performance at the Tiger Classic, according to an announcement from the conference on Monday.

Wetteland made a strong impression in her debut, starting with a 3-for-3 showing that included two home runs and five RBIs during Nevada’s 9–0 win over Illinois. She recorded nine total bases in that game, marking the highest single-game total for any Nevada player during the weekend.

Throughout the tournament, Wetteland maintained her offensive output by collecting hits against both Lamar and nationally ranked LSU. She registered hits in four out of five games played by Nevada. Her efforts included reaching base through both a walk and a hit in Nevada’s 8–0 victory over Lamar. Wetteland concluded the event with five hits, two home runs, and six RBIs, leading her team in slugging percentage across all games.

Nevada finished the weekend with three wins and two losses. The team’s victories included shutouts against Illinois, NC State, and Lamar.
