Nevada softball player Karolyn Glover has been named the Credit Union 1 Community Champion by Mountain West, recognizing her commitment to civic engagement and service in Reno.
As part of the recognition, Credit Union 1 will donate $500 in Glover’s name to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Glover, a junior from Reno and a former standout at Reed High School in Sparks, rejoined the Wolf Pack softball team after the 2025 season. Since returning, she has led community initiatives that have supported homeless youth in Reno.
She organized the “Gear Up For Good” drive with EDDY House, focusing on collecting clothing and food for young adults aged 18 to 24 during November. The Nevada Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and local businesses like Custom Boat and Marine, Camie Craigg Fitness, and Ruby’s Shake Shop contributed new socks, underwear, hygiene items, and non-perishable foods for the effort. This resulted in EDDY House receiving its largest single donation ever—over 1,000 items.
In December, Glover joined volunteers and EDDY House staff to deliver all donated goods. These items helped support homeless and at-risk youth during the winter holidays as part of EDDY House’s mission.
Following this success, the “Gear Up For Good” drive will now be held annually every November during National Homeless Youth Awareness Month to continue supporting EDDY House’s work and raising awareness about homelessness in Reno.
On the field, Glover made her season debut as Nevada opened its 2026 campaign in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Over five games, she achieved a .300 batting average with two home runs and three RBIs.
The Credit Union 1 Community Champion Award is given quarterly throughout the academic year to student-athletes who demonstrate leadership through service and partnership efforts. According to Mountain West: “Glover’s work stands as a model for what it means to be a leader both on and off the field.”
