Johanna Haas sets new No. 3 all-time mark in Wolf Pack Classic pentathlon

Nevada Track and Field began the Wolf Pack Classic and Combined Events with a strong showing in the pentathlon. Johanna Haas achieved a significant milestone, recording the third-highest all-time point total for Nevada in the event.

In the opening 60m hurdles, Haas placed third with a time of 8.80 seconds. Alma Kathan finished fifth at 8.97 seconds, while Hazel Gaspaire was twelfth at 9.34 seconds.

The high jump saw both Haas and Kathan set personal records. Haas shared first place by clearing 1.68 meters, matching Gaspaire’s mark as they both tied for first. Kathan cleared 1.65 meters to secure seventh place.

Haas led Nevada again in shot put with a throw of 12.89 meters, earning second place overall. Kathan finished ninth at 10.62 meters, and Gaspaire was thirteenth with an 8.89-meter effort.

During long jump, Kathan led the team by placing fourth with a leap of 5.80 meters; Haas followed in fifth at 5.52 meters, and Gaspaire took eighth after jumping 5.37 meters.

In the final pentathlon event, the 800m run, Kathan recorded a time of 2:27.20 to finish fifth and reached Nevada’s #5 all-time pentathlon point total with 3,798 points—a notable achievement for her as a sophomore. Haas ran close behind at 2:27.39 to set Nevada’s #3 all-time pentathlon point total at 3,934 points—her highest mark in collegiate competition so far. Gaspaire finished fourteenth in this race and ended tenth overall in the pentathlon with a total score of 3,265 points.

The Wolf Pack will continue competition on day two of the meet.
