Senior Jayce Dobie was named Mountain West Player of the Week for his performance during Nevada’s undefeated week, the conference announced on Mar. 9.

Dobie’s recognition comes after a standout series in which he helped lead Nevada to four consecutive wins. His contributions were significant both at the plate and on the mound, underscoring his role as a key player for the Wolf Pack.

During the week, Dobie posted a .556 batting average, going 10-for-19 with three games featuring at least three hits. In Nevada’s 9-6 victory at Stanford, he started as pitcher and struck out four batters over four innings while also delivering offensively with a 4-for-5 performance that included a double and three runs batted in. He capped off a five-run rally in the ninth inning with an RBI single, helping Nevada defeat Stanford for the first time since 2015.

Against Pacific, Dobie continued his strong play with back-to-back three-hit games on Friday and Saturday. He batted .429 for the series and contributed an RBI single during Friday’s comeback win over Pacific, where Nevada overcame a three-run deficit to win 11-7. The team scored double-digit runs in each game against Pacific and swept the series to improve its home record at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park to 6-0 this season.

Through Nevada’s first 13 games, Dobie ranks second on the team in batting average (.396) and total bases (27), while leading in hits (21) and doubles (six).

Nevada holds an overall record of 8-5 and will return to Stanford for a rematch Wednesday evening before traveling to Fresno to begin its defense of the Mountain West title.
