Nevada Skiing will send five athletes to the 2026 National Collegiate Skiing Championships, according to an announcement from the NCAA on Wednesday. The event will take place from March 11-14 at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah.
The selected skiers are Erica Lynch, Sophia Falter, Pietro Bisello, David Morken, and Peyton Wells. This marks the largest group of alpine skiers Nevada has sent to nationals since 2010.
Erica Lynch has had a standout season for Nevada. At the Utah Invitational on February 22, she finished third in the giant slalom race, which was Nevada’s first podium finish since the program was reinstated ahead of the 2022-23 athletic year. In giant slalom events this season, Lynch recorded five top-10 finishes and three in the top five. She also achieved three top-five finishes in slalom among five total top-10 results.
David Morken is a Truckee native in his second year with Nevada. He secured top-10 placements in three of his last four regular-season giant slalom races, including ninth at the recent Utah Invitational.
Sophia Falter, Pietro Bisello, and Peyton Wells are all freshmen concluding their debut seasons by qualifying for nationals. Falter ended her regular season with an eighth-place finish in giant slalom at the RMISA Championships last weekend. Bisello finished fifth at those championships and posted the fastest second run time to move into the top five overall. Wells had notable performances as well, earning top-10 finishes in slalom at both the first RMISA Alpine Qualifier and at Nevada’s home invitational at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe earlier this year.
Athletes qualify for nationals based on regional selection processes set by the skiing committee. Each institution can send up to 12 student-athletes across disciplines and genders.
The NCAA Championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com. Giant Slalom races are scheduled for Wednesday, March 11; Slalom events will follow on Friday, March 13.
