The City of Reno is set to host its Regional Junior Ranger Day on June 21, offering residents an opportunity to explore local parks and learn about nature and conservation. The event will take place at Mira Loma Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free for families.
“We’re excited to team up with our local ranger programs for an action-packed day of adventure and discovery at Mira Loma Park,” said Ward 3 Councilmember Miguel Martinez. “This is a great opportunity for families to get outside, discover the beauty of our local parks, and dive into some outdoor fun.”
Participants can engage in hourly interpretive education activities and enjoy a bike rodeo led by Kiwanis International. Additionally, members of the Nevada Air National Guard will present the colors and perform the national anthem. A Black Hawk helicopter landing is scheduled courtesy of the Nevada Army National Guard.
The event is organized in collaboration with several partners including Nevada State Parks, Washoe County Park Rangers, Carson City Park Rangers, City of Reno Rangers, Nevada Army National Guard, Nevada Air National Guard, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Kiwanis International, and Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful.
Reno’s Parks and Recreation Team continues to host Junior Ranger Program activities throughout 2025 across six different city parks. Community members interested in participating can pick up a free Junior Ranger Guide at any City of Reno recreation facility or online. Participants are encouraged to collect stickers through various activities led by park rangers. After completing six activities and collecting six stickers, participants will be invited to a swearing-in ceremony in January 2026 where they will receive their official Junior Ranger Badge.
